| Description: | The Director, Actuary Analysis will be responsible for managing all analytical, cross‐functional, and technical aspects of the benefit design, pricing and bidding for both the Medicare Advantage and Part D product. The Director, Actuary Analysis is responsible for researching trends, reviewing data, and making recommendations on company strategy as it relates to determining risk, pricing and product strategies. The Director, Actuary Analysis will organize, manage and execute the entire Medicare benefit design and bid filing process to successful and timely completion. |
| Duties: | Manages and supervises the Bid Development staff to ensure accurate, timely completion of all benefit
design and bid development steps
Develops internal staff, knowledge and tools to ensure timely, accurate annual bid development and
submission as well as ad‐hoc analysis
Participates in/supports management strategy discussions regarding products and pricing
Directs actuarial consultants regarding their work on the Medicare Advantage bid development process
Coordinates analysis, discussion and resources across all company departments (Sales, Network, Health Services, Finance, Operations, Compliance) in support of benefit design and pricing
Works in conjunction with Finance, Medical Economics, and Actuarial consultants to ensure appropriate
pricing of admin/benefits and development of BPTs
Responsible for timely submission of final bids in compliance with CMS submission requirements and
consistent with company business objectives
Facilitates and manages CMS bid review responses/audit responses
Develops monthly IBNR reserve calculations
Support pricing and related aspects of State RFPs and other feasibility analysis
Develop monthly trend factors to assist in the development of rolling forecast model |
| Qualifications: | ASA or FSA designation
Graduate degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Economics or related degree preferred
3‐5 years experience in healthcare data analysis and developing Actuarial pricing and reserve models and assumptions.
Experience organizing, leading and successfully completing the Medicare Advantage Bid filing process. (3+ years experience preferred)
Experience evaluating and developing monthly financial projections
Experience managing and developing analytical staff
Demonstrated work experience developing program rates, preparing cost estimates and developing competitive bids for Medicare and Medicaid.
Superior skills in Excel, Access, SQL, SAS and/or VBA.
Exceptional project management and independent decision‐making skills.
Significant experience in a work environment requiring substantial interaction with multiple levels of an organization (C‐level, direct operations, middle management, and senior management)
Complex problem solving skills ‐ Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions |
